About Me

I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have twenty-five years’ experience providing therapy for couples, individuals and groups.

Before my involvement with counselling and psychotherapy, I studied at Cambridge University and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I have worked as an actor, journalist, presenter, author and playwright, including many years on air at the BBC and LBC Radio.

In the 1990s, I volunteered with the Terrence Higgins Trust, offering emotional and practical support to people with HIV/AIDS. This experience led me to study for a Certificate in Counselling at Richmond College, followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma at Thames Valley University, with further studies in couple and sex therapy at Birkbeck College, London University.

I established my private psychotherapy practice in 2001, initially in Harley Street and later in Covent Garden. I often work with clients in the creative professions and from the LGBTQ+ community.

I have been a counsellor at the West London Centre for Counselling, a group facilitator for male survivors of sexual abuse at Survivors UK, and a sex therapist for a national daily newspaper's problem page. At the City Lit Institute, I have been a member of staff in the Counselling & Psychology Department, offering professional development workshops for therapists, facilitating personal development groups, and teaching trainee counsellors. A documentary I wrote and presented for BBC Radio 4 about post traumatic stress won the ARIA (Sony) Gold Award.

My areas of professional interest include abuse, addictions, anger, anxiety, compulsion, couple therapy, end-of-life and grief, gender and sexuality, identity, relationships and trauma. However, I am open to exploring whatever issues you bring to our meetings.

As an accredited member of the BACP, I adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy and am committed to the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure.
